The English 101 Finale...

Hey guys, I thought of wanting to post a blog talking about my final research paper. It is fortunate that I spent a whole weekend devoted to this paper and actually came up with a rough draft! My topic is an important one regarding to the next generation of human beings (Generation X, Y, Z, and beyond). Generation Y which is known as the Millennial Generation born from 1984-1995 typically do well in a team setting. But that's not my topic actually but I would go on and on talking about that, my topic for my research paper is:

"How will chemistry affect the next generation regarding through the effects of bio-fuels toward the environment and friendly methods using the theme “Go Green?" For this topic, I will discuss the chemistry aspects, safety and possible dangers, political and controversial issues, the economic benefits and problems, and last, I will discuss advancements that will influence the society in a positive way.

This is my ultimate question and my thesis statement. My argument is to say that renewable energy sources are the solutions that solve the next facing generations. Just thinking about since the 1930s when the model T Ford's came out it was a successful monopoly, from then on crude oil was discovered. Majority of this resides in the middle east. Now the world depends heavily on these sources resulting an interdependence. Without oil, this world would completely stop and all of humanity function would cease. Not speaking of all the negative factors of pollution to the environment, my topic focuses on many types of biofuels such as bioalcohols, green diesel, biodiesel, vegetable oil, bioethers, biogas, syngas, and solid biofuels.

I go through a paragraph discussing all the biofuels and their positive effects. After that I mention some of the negative effects of using biofuels. Political issues is another big factor I mention in another paragraph. Then I discuss a paragraph talking about some things we can do to help minimize pollution toward the environment. At last I talk about my reflection about how I chose this topic regarding with a discussion with the librarians and how I reached the point to a well developed idea on how Green Chemistry is a vital subject to talk about for a solution to the next generation.

Language is God, the bible brings God to life. How important language can influence our lives to communicate with one another, express ones feelings of love, happiness, anger and sorrow. I would have to say I have a trait of persuasion. As said in my first blog I have a knack for persuasion, this means I could convince someone by a thought into action. One great example is that in the past I was fascinated by the world of business and I wanted to start my own company one day related to chemistry and real estate. I have told all of my plans and wanted to share all this information with one of my friends, they believed me, and said that they would be my future CEO one day. I then realized my potential from there on and I intend to use this skill for good purposes such as persuading someone to make a right decision, persuading someone not to suicide, persuade someone that there is hope. Besides that, I realized I have become fascinated in personality studies related to psychology. I therefore can convince someone what kind of a personality they are such as strengths and weaknesses and how they can better themselves in improving oneself. Besides that, I even can persuade someone to buy something that is a materialistic product. I have realized I possess this potential skill that one day I could become a very successful person if I use it to my advantage. Once again language is the key to success in doing anything in life based on persuading, expressing, and selling.

Accomplishment of a Team Effort

Hey guys back to my ordinary blog. Usual day: get up, get dressed, eat breakfast, drive to school, attend my linguistic Chinese class (which I find really easy by the way), and then get together with few of my english fellows working on our presentation.

What this post will talk about is our recent project called the Alternate Discourse Assignment, which consists of an argumentative subject talking about something to persuade. In this case, for our presentation, our group (consisting of Me, Eric, Mallory, and Jeremiah) presented a marketing sales pitch of what is to be the next considered top of the line cruise lines called University Cruise Lines (UCL). I believe we presented very well in front of the class. I am glad to hear that Billy Phillips said our presentation was clear, concise, and effective. I hope to receive positive feedback from him and a high grade. Our group (team) worked very hard on this project. The previous day we went to the library and practiced our presentation in a practice presentation room. We also worked on our brochure supplement which was time consuming but it paid off and it looks spectacular. On the day of our presentation, we thought of something more creative, we decided to put a little skit of the members doing the "UCL" letters with their body. What I really liked about this presentation was being able to speak in front of the class in an effective way presenting the information we wanted to convey. I believe that I have presented in a very effective manner to the class, with an exciting tone of course. Anyways this has been fun and I will let you guys know soon about the results.

Until next time!

Sibling Success

This has to be one of the most interesting things to talk about and I am very excited to share this with you guys! My sister Angela has recently participated in a contest called Kidz Star Talent Search in which kids from all over the nation submit a video of themselves singing and/or playing a musical instrument. Well it all started when my sister saw a commercial on TV saying that this contest is just for kids! Its wonderful that she took the initiative and participated. She sang a song by Christina Aguilara a cappella. After when the first part of the contest ended, she got selected to be on the top 10 semi-finalists. When she was selected, we were excited for her.
The next step for this competition was to submit another video recording singing another song by another artist and create an about me video. Fortunately Angela was lucky to have me to record for her. So she submitted both videos and see how it went. Days later, she was selected again to be on the top 3 finalists!! Wow what an honorable mention! My sister was very happy to hear the news and so were the family. The next day, Kidz Bop music company called my dad saying if she could do a local TV interview. Absolutely my dad said. Here is the link for my sister's WBIR/NBC Live at 5 TV interview link:

After being selected to being the top 3 finalists, her award was a trip to New York City to shoot a professional music video recording. Angela had a fantastic trip there and she had lots of fun during the whole process.

The next step is now for you to VOTE for her to become the Kidz Star Grand Prize Winner! Go to this link below to VOTE for her!!!

The start of a new beginning

In this post, we will discuss the start of a new beginning. First of all I would think blogging is not for an English extra credit assignment, but it is also a way to express oneself like a biographical page about oneself. Specifically I would like to talk about the theme of persuasion. Our first essay assignment we had to write was a Rhetorical Analysis about a music video we selected. What a fun topic to write about and it was relatively easy. According to Rhetorical Analysis, it is the way and works in order to persuade. I would believe the art of persuasion is the key to getting your message across and influencing others to do the same. I know I possess this skill very well, it is the matter of utilizing it properly and usefully. (An interesting fact, not to mention astrologically I was born in 1992 the Monkey year, therefore we have a knack of persuasion). Therefore our English class so far has been a wonderful experience (I would say much more fun than senior english in high school lol). The class has been very involved in discussions and group work which is a great way to learn. That's what college is all about, and Mr. Phillips has done a wonderful job making the best for our English 101 class.
